FTSE Futures Morning Update on 18 January


The FTSE 100 Futures are trading at 7,678.20 for up with +0.07% percent or +5.70 point. The CAC 40 Futures are trading at 5,509.80  for up with +0.01% percent or +0.60 point . The DAX Futures are trading at 13,232.50 for up with +0.55% percent or +73.00 point . The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures are trading at 3,617.00 for up with +0.50% percent or +18.00 point.


London stocks were set to tick just a touch higher at the open on Thursday following a positive finish on Wall Street thanks to a solid performance from technology giant Apple.

The FTSE 100 was expected to open three points higher at 7,728.

CMC Markets analyst Michael Hewson said: “While European markets had a disappointing day yesterday it turned out that the late evaporation of those strong early gains in US markets on Tuesday, turned out to be a one day wonder, as sentiment got turned on its head with a rally of over 300 points on the Dow, with most of the gains helped by an afternoon announcement from Apple about its future investment plans in the US.

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,731.15   for up with +0.07% percent or  +5.72 point. France’s CAC 40 closed at 5,493.99  with a loss of -0.36% percent or  -19.83 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 13,183.96 with a loss of -0.47% percent or  -62.37 point.


For the day the Dow are trading at 26,115.65 for up with +1.25%percent or +322.79 point. The S&P 500 are trading at 2,802.56 for up with +0.94%  percent or +26.14 point. The Nasdaq Composite are trading at 7,298.28 for up  with +1.03% percent or  +74.59 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 23,763.37 with a loss of -0.44% percent or -104.97 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 32,121.94  for up with +0.43% percent or +138.53 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,474.75  for up with +0.87% percent or +30.08 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 35,477.07 for up with +1.13% percent or +395.25 point at 12:15 PM.
