FTSE Futures Morning Update on 26 March 2019

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 7,118.50  up with +0.15% percent or +11.00 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 5,254.20 with a loss of -0.10% percent or -5.30 point. The DAX Futures is trading at  11,401.00 up with +0.17% percent or +19.50 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 3,228.00 up with +0.28% percent or +9.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

The FTSE 100 was down 0.42% at 7,177.58, alongside a drop of 1.08% to 18,792.95 for the second-tier index, while the pound was off 0.3% against the US dollar at 1.31695 and 0.39% weaker versus the euro at 1.1642.

In parallel, and in part mimicking moves elsewhere on the globe, yields on 10-year benchmark Gilts fell below the psychological 1.0% level as investors sought-out safe havens.

Earlier, Theresa May gave an update to the Commons on her the path the government had chosen to follow, even as ministers denied reports over the weekend that a number of them were plotting to oust her from the top job.

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,177.58  with a loss of -0.42% percent or -30.01 point. France’s CAC  40 closed at 5,260.64  with a loss of -0.18% percent or -9.27 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 11,346.65  with a loss of -0.15% percent or -17.52 point.

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow is trading at 25,516.83  up with +0.057% percent or +14.51 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,798.36 with a loss of -0.084% percent or -2.35 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,637.54 with a loss of -0.067% percent or -5.13 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 21,428.39 up with +2.15% percent or +451.28 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 28,482.85 with a loss of -0.14% percent or -40.50  point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,997.10 with a loss of -1.51% percent or -45.94 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 37,854.39  up with +0.12% percent or +48.58 point at 12:15 PM.
