The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 7,467.50 up with  +0.12% percent or +9.00 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 5,473.00 up  with +0.68% percent or +37.00 point . The DAX Futures is trading at 12,611.00 up with +0.11%  percent or +14.00 point . The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures is trading at 3,474.00  up with +0.55%  percent or +19.00 point.


The FTSE 100 rose 0.1% to 7,509.30 as sterling regained some poise, trading up 0.2% versus the euro at 1.1390 and down 0.2% against the dollar at 1.3754, halving its earlier losses. The currency has been under pressure since last week’s weak UK GDP data dashed any remaining hopes of an interest rate hike in May.

Sainsbury’s closed up 15% after confirming that it has agreed terms with Walmart over a merger with UK supermarket chain Asda to create a £51bn-revenue giant in exchange for a £3bn cash payment.

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,509.30 up with +0.095% percent or +7.09 point. France’s CAC 40 closed at 5,520.50 up with +0.68% percent or +37.32  point. Germany’s DAX closed at 12,612.11  up with +0.25% percent or +31.24 point.
