The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 7,068.80  with a loss of -0.50% percent or -35.20 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 5,341.20  with a loss of -0.13% percent or –6.80 point. The DAX Futures is trading at 11,630.20   with a loss of -0.41% percent or –48.20 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 3,340.00  with -0.48% percent or -16.00 point.


Global Times editor-in-chief Hu Xijin said in a tweet that negotiators from both countries had not talked over the phone: “The two sides have been keeping contact at technical level, it doesn’t have significance that President Trump suggested. China didn’t change its position. China won’t cave to US pressure.”

Treasury yields finished higher following the news, with the 10-year Treasury note yield rising 2.2 basis points to 1.545% after hitting its lowest level since 2016, while the 2-year note climbed 3 basis points to 1.558%.

On the corporate front, chipmakers like AMD and Micron closed higher following Trump’s comments.

For the day the Dow is trading at 25,898.83  up with +1.05% percent or +269.93  point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,878.38  up with +1.10% percent or +31.27 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,853.74 up with +1.32% percent or +101.97 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 20,456.08   up with +0.96% percent or +195.04 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 25,611.38  with a loss of –0.27% percent or –68.95 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,902.19  up with +1.35% percent or +38.63 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 37,648.44 up with +0.41% percent or +154.32 point at 12:15 PM.
