FTSE Futures Morning Update on 08 July 2019

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 7,477.50 with a loss of -0.27% percent or -19.90 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 5,593.72  with a loss of -0.48% percent or -27.00 point. The DAX Futures is trading at 12,524.50  with a loss of -0.23% percent or -28.90 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 3,512.00 with a loss of  -0.31% percent or -11.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

London stocks were set to edge lower at the open on Monday as investors continued to mull last week’s better-than-expected non-farm payrolls report.

CMC Markets analyst David Madden said: “Friday’s US non-farm payrolls report came in much stronger than expected, and it got some traders questioning the intense chatter that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates this month. Much of the rally in global stocks in recent weeks have been driven by the speculation the US central bank would lower rates.

“The all-important economic release showed that 224,000 jobs were added in June, which comfortably topped the 160,000 forecast that economists held. The unemployment rate edged up to 3.7%, from 3.6% – which was a 50-year low. The yearly average earnings rate held steady at 3.1%, and keep in mind the CPI rate is 1.8%, so US workers are getting a nice increase in real wages.

For the day the Dow is trading at 26,922.12  with a loss of -0.16% percent or -43.88 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,990.41  with a loss of -0.18% percent or -5.41 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 8,161.79 with a loss of -0.10% percent or -8.44 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 21,534.35 with a loss of -0.98% percent or -212.03 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 28,287.67 with a loss of -1.69% percent or -487.16 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,933.36  with a loss of -2.58% percent or -77.70 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 38,884.70  with a loss of -1.59% percent or -628.69 point at 12:15 PM.
