FTSE Futures Morning Update on 31 May 2019

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 7,167.20  with a loss of  -0.63% percent or -45.80 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 5,248.91 up  with +0.51% percent or +26.79 point. The DAX Futures is trading at 11,763.00  with a loss of -1.32% percent or -157.50 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 3,278.00 with a loss of -1.21% percent or -40.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

Stocks finished modestly higher amid news that the Chancellor might back a second referendum in order to unblock the paralysis that had led to a halving in the UK’s car production last month, overcoming continued strident rhetoric from some Chinese officials.

In remarks to BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme, Philip Hammond, said that “if we get to the point when we have to admit that parliament can’t resolve this issue then clearly it will have to be remitted back to the people.”

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,218.16  up with +0.46% percent or +32.86 point. France’s CAC  40 closed at 5,248.91  up with +0.51% percent or +26.79 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 11,902.08  up with +0.54% percent or +64.27  point.

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow is trading at 25,169.88 up with +0.17% percent or +43.47 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,788.86 up with +0.21% percent or +5.84 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,567.72  up with +0.27% percent or +20.41 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 20,601.19  with a loss of -1.63% percent or -341.34 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 26,954.29 with a loss of -0.59% percent or -160.59   point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,901.89  with a loss of -0.13% percent or -3.92 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 39,760.29  with a loss of -0.17% percent or -66.28 point at 12:15 PM.
