TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS
London stocks were set for a firmer open on Monday, tracking a positive session in Asia as sentiment remained underpinned by strong Chinese export figures and US earnings at the end of last week.
The FTSE 100 was called to open 10 points higher at 7,447.
CMC Markets analyst Michael Hewson said: “In an Easter shortened week Asia markets have got off to a decent start taking their cues from easing concerns about Chinese data, and a strong end to the week for US markets. This looks set to translate into a positive start for European stocks this morning.”
Hewson said sterling is likely to remain becalmed now that a Brexit decision has been kicked into the long grass.
