FTSE Futures Morning Update on 12 February 2019

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 7,084.80  up with +0.20% percent or +14.30 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 5,043.80 up with +0.59% percent or +29.80 point. The DAX Futures is trading at 11,112.50  up with +1.01% percent or +111.10 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 3,181.50 up with +0.73% percent or +23.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

Economic growth slowed to just 0.2% in the last three months of the year, below consensus forecasts of around 0.3% and down on the 0.6% seen in the three months to September. In December, GDP fell 0.4%, against analyst expectations for either little or no growth.

As a result, annual GDP growth was just 1.4%, the lowest since 2012.

Rob Kent-Smith, head of GDP at the ONS, said: “GDP slowed in the last three months of the year, with the manufacturing of cars and steel products seeing steep falls, and construction also declining. However, services continued to growth with the health sector, management consultants and IT all doing well.”

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,129.11 up with 0.82% percent or +57.93 point. France’s CAC  40 closed at 5,014.47  up with +1.06% percent or +52.84  point. Germany’s DAX closed at 11,014.59 up with +0.99% percent or +107.81 point.

For the day the Dow is trading at 25,053.11 with a loss of -0.21% percent or -53.22 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,709.80  up with +0.071% percent or +1.92 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,307.90  up with +0.13% percent or +9.71 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 20,864.21  up with +2.61% percent or +531.04 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 28,141.18   with a loss of -0.0095% percent or -2.66 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,671.89 up with +0.68% percent or +18.00 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 36,351.04  with a loss of -0.12% percent or -43.99 point at 12:15 PM.
