FTSE Futures Morning Update on 15 January 2019

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 6,837.50 up with +0.51% percent or +34.50 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 4,761.20  with a loss of  -0.38% percent or -18.30 point. The DAX Futures is trading at 10,936.80 up with +0.63% percent or +68.30 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 3,067.50 with +0.76% percent or +23.00 point.


London stocks retreated on Monday following the release of disappointing Chinese trade data and as investors eyed Tuesday’s Commons vote on Theresa May’s Brexit deal.

The FTSE 100 fell 0.91% or 63.16 points to 6,855.02, while the pound was up 0.31% against the US dollar to 1.28850 and by 0.29% to 1.1228 versus the euro.

Indeed, Sterling hit its highest level against the greenback in seven weeks as May warned in a speech at a factory in Stoke-on-Trent that Brexit may be scrapped if MPs vote against her deal, but also said she had secured valuable assurances from the EU.


For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 6,855.02 with a loss of  -0.91% percent or -63.16 point. France’s CAC  40 closed at 4,762.75  with a loss of -0.39% percent or -18.59 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 10,855.91  with a loss of  -0.29% percent or -31.55 point.


For the day the Dow is trading at 23,909.84 with a loss of -0.36% percent or -86.11 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,582.61 with a loss of -0.53% percent or -13.65 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at +6,905.92 with a loss of -0.94% percent or -65.56 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 20,555.29  up with +0.96% percent or +195.59 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 26,781.45  up with +1.84% percent or +83.12 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,570.07 up  with +1.35% percent or  +34.30 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 36,203.42  up with +0.98% percent or +349.86 point at 12:15 PM.
