FTSE Futures Morning Update on 26 December

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 6,609.00  with a loss of -0.97% percent or -64.50 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 4,621.00  with a loss of -1.04% percent or -48.60  point. The DAX Futures is trading at 10,499.50  with a loss of -0.94% percent or -100.00 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 2,952.00  with a loss of -1.17% percent or -35.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

As traders reached for the mince pies and eggnog, the Santa rally failed to materialise on Christmas Eve, with stocks in London suffering their worst close in more than two years as global growth concerns, Sino-US relations and Brexit woes continued to plague investors.

The FTSE 100 closed down 0.5% at 6,685.99 – its lowest finish since September 2016 – amid holiday-thinned volumes, with many traders already away from their desks for the Christmas break. Meanwhile, the pound was up 0.1% at 1.2657 and 0.1% lower versus the euro at 1.1100.

For the day the Dow is trading at 21,792.20  with a loss of  -2.91% percent or -653.17 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,351.10 with  a loss of -2.71% percent or -65.52 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 6,192.92  with a loss of -5.14% percent or  -335.49 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 19,327.06  up with +0.89% percent or +171.32 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 25,651.38   with a loss of -0.40% percent or -102.04 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,504.44  with a loss of -0.015% percent or  -0.38 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 35,254.92  with a loss of -0.61% percent or -215.23 point at 12:15 PM.
