FTSE Futures Morning Update on 11 December

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 6,775.20  with a loss of  -0.04% percent or -2.80 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 4,778.00 with a loss of –0.55% percent or -26.50  point The DAX Futures is trading at 10,716.50 with a loss of -0.13% percent or -14.00 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 3,036.50  with a loss of -0.08% percent or -2.50 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

London stocks finished sharply lower on Monday even as the pound slid on news that Theresa May has called off this week’s parliamentary vote on the Brexit deal until she has been able to speak with her counterparts in the European Union.

Speaking in the House of Commons, the Prime Minister told MPs: “Until those discussions have properly started, it’s impossible to say how long [they will take].”

“We need to enter into those discussions and until we have done that it’s not possible to give a date.”

Thursday’s European Council meeting offered a possible window for May to discuss matters with EU leaders, analysts at Oxford Economics wrote.

Over on the second-tier index the selling pressure was even more intense, with the stockmarket gauge down by 1.97% or 351.80 points to 17,492.31

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 6,721.54   with a loss of -0.83% percent or -56.57 point. France’s CAC  40 closed at 4,742.38 with a loss of -1.47% percent or -70.74 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 10,622.07 with a loss of -1.54% percent or  –166.02 point.

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow is trading at 24,423.26 up with +0.14% percent or +34.31  point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,637.72 up with +0.18% percent or +4.64 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,020.52 up with +0.74% percent or +51.27 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 21,148.02 with a loss of -0.34% percent or -71.48 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 25,771.52  up with +0.074%percent or +19.14 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,588.72 up with +0.16% percent or  +4.14 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at  34,860.63 with a loss of -0.28% percent or -99.09 point at 12:15 PM.
