FTSE Futures Morning Update on 17 October

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 7,047.00  with a loss of -0.25% percent or -18.00 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 5,198.80 up with  +0.48% percent or +24.80 point The DAX Futures is trading at 11,836.50  up with  ++0.58% percent or +68.50 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 3,267.00 up with+0.62% percent or +3.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

 London stocks were set to rise at the open on Wednesday, taking their cue from a strong session on Wall Street, as investors eyed the release of key UK inflation data and the EU summit in Brussels.

The FTSE 100 was called to open 27 points higher at 7,086 following impressive gains in the US, where well-received earnings from the likes of Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Johnson & Johnson underpinned the tone.

An impressive set of results from Netflix was also expected to boost sentiment in European trade, as its shares surged in after-hours trading after the company topped third-quarter estimates for subscriber growth and earnings.

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,029.22  up with +0.48% percent or +33.31 point. France’s CAC 40 closed at 5,095.07  with a loss of -0.018% percent or  -0.90 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 11,614.1  up with +0.78% percent or +90.35 point.

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow is trading at 25,250.55  with  a loss of -0.35% percent or  -89.44 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,750.79 with a loss of  -0.59% percent or -16.34 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,430.74 with a loss of -0.88% percent or -66.15 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 22,549.24 up with +1.25% percent or +277.94  point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 25,332.89    with a loss of -0.44% percent or -112.17 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,540.80   with a loss of  -1.06% percent or -27.30 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 35,045.20  up  with +0.52% percent or +180.10  point at 12:15 PM.
