FTSE Futures Morning Update on 26 March

UK PRE MARKET

The FTSE 100 Futures are trading at 6,849.00 with a loss of -0.19% percent or -13.00 point. The CAC 40 Futures are trading at 5,085.00  with a loss of -1.29% percent or -66.50 point . The DAX Futures are trading at 11,909.50 for up with a +0.01% percent or +1.50 point . The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures are trading at 3,209.00   with a loss of —-0.16% percent or -5.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

The FTSE 100 closed down 0.4% at 6,921.94 , having tumbled to its lowest finish in over 15 months the day before at 6,952.59. Meanwhile, the pound was down 0.1% against the euro at 1.1448 and up 0.4% versus the greenback at 1.4151.

On yesterday night, Trump signed off on 25% tariffs on $50bn worth of Chinese imports in a bid to punish the People’s Republic for intellectual property infringements.

China was quick to retaliate, saying it was planning to impose tariffs on $3bnworth of US products. The list included pork, wine, fruit, nuts and stainless steel pipes, among other things. In a statement earlier on Friday, the Chinese commerce ministry said: “China doesn’t hope to be in a trade war, but is not afraid of engaging in one.”

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 6,921.94  with a loss of -0.44% percent or  -30.65 point. France’s CAC 40 closed at 5,095.22 with a loss of -1.39% percent or  -71.98 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 11,886.31  with a loss of -1.77% percent or  -213.77 point.

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow are trading at 23,533.20  with a loss of -1.77% percent or -424.69  point. The S&P 500 are trading at 2,588.26 with a loss of -2.10% percent or  -55.43 point. The Nasdaq Composite are trading at 6,992.67  with a loss of -2.43% percent or -174.01 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 20,766.10  for up with +0.72% percent or  +148.24 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 30,402.66  for up with +0.31% percent or + 93.37 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,133.72  with a loss of  -0.60% percent or  -19.04 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 32,692.89 for up with +0.30% percent or +96.35 point at 12:15 PM.
