FTSE Futures Morning Update on 09 February

UK PRE MARKET

The FTSE 100 Futures are trading at 7,070.50 with a loss of -2.08% percent or -150.50  point. The CAC 40 Futures are trading at 5,128.50  with  a loss of  -2.38%  percent or -125.00  point . The DAX Futures are trading at 12,208.50  for up with   +0.14% percent or +17.00 point . The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures are trading at 3,356.00  with  a loss  of -0.06% percent or -2.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

London’s FTSE 100 fell almost 1.5% on Friday as the pound spiked higher after the Bank of England signalled that interest rates may rise sooner and higher than it had indicated.

The BoE voted unanimously to leave interest rates on hold at 0.50% and the asset purchase facility at £435bn. Rates had been expected to remain on hold, but there had been some speculation that one or two policymakers would vote in favour of a hike.

The pound shot higher, spiking up more than 0.8% against the dollar and the euro before easing off to $1.394 and €1.1375 as the Bank’s monetary policy committee also upped its forecasts for economic growth and said that interest rates may need to rise earlier and faster than previously forecast. It also said it expects stronger wage growth than previously and that inflation is still forecast to be above the 2% target in three years’ time

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,170.69 with a loss of -0.40% percent or -108.73 point. France’s CAC 40 closed at 5,151.68 with a loss of  -1.98% percent or -104.21 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 12,260.29   with a loss of -2.62% percent or -330.14 point.

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow are trading at 23,860.46  with a loss of  -4.15% percent or  -1,032.89 point. The S&P 500 are trading at 2,581.00 with a loss of -3.75% percent or -100.66 point. The Nasdaq Composite are trading at 6,777.16   with  a loss of -3.90% percent or -274.82 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 21,382.62   with a loss of -2.32% percent or  -508.24 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 29,388.52 with a loss of -3.49% percent or -1,062.75 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,129.85 with a loss  -4.05% percent or -132.20 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 34,005.76 with a loss of -1.18% percent or  -407.40  point at 12:15 PM.
