FTSE Futures Morning Update on 30 January

UK PRE MARKET

The FTSE 100 Futures are trading at 7,561.50 with a loss of -0.52% percent or -39.70 point. The CAC 40 Futures are trading at 5,485.80  with a loss of -0.63%  percent or -21.30  point . The DAX Futures are trading at 13,213.50  with a loss of -0.68% percent or -91.00 point . The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures are trading at 3,611.00  with a loss of -0.61% percent or -22.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

 London stocks held on to slight gains on Tuesday as the pound slumped back and Wall Street started on the back foot but the UK’s major miners saved the day as copper prices rose.

The FTSE 100 added just under six points to close at 7,671.53, though the mid caps of the FTSE 250 fell slightly.

Sterling slipped 0.7% against the dollar to 1.4060 as the greenback gained back some of the ground lost last week and worries emerged about the Brexit transition. Sterling was down 0.2% versus the euro at 1.1372. A weaker pound tends to underpin the top-flight index as around 70% of its constituents derive most of their earnings from overseas.

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,671.53 for up with +0.08% percent or +5.99 point. France’s CAC 40 closed at 5,521.59  with  a loss of -0.14% percent or -7.56 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 13,324.48  with a loss of -0.12% percent or -15.69 point.

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow are trading at 26,439.48  with a loss of -0.67%  percent or  -177.23 point. The S&P 500 are trading at 2,853.53 with  a loss of -0.67% percent or -19.34 point. The Nasdaq Composite are trading at 7,466.51  with a loss of  -0.52% percent or -39.27 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 23,291.97  with a loss of -1.43% percent or -337.37 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 32,623.03  with a loss of  -1.04% percent or  -187.23 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,488.01  with a loss of -0.99% percent or -34.99 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 36,085.16  with a loss of -0.54% percent or  -191.55 point at 12:15 PM.
