FTSE Futures Morning Update on 24 January

UK PRE MARKET

The FTSE 100 Futures are trading at 7,666.80   with a loss of -0.20% percent or -15.40 point. The CAC 40 Futures are trading at 5,528.50  with a loss of -0.18%  percent or -10.00  point . The DAX Futures are trading at 13,556.00 for up with +0.01% percent or +1.00 point . The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures are trading at 3,658.00 with a loss of -0.03% percent or -1.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

The pound notched up a 19-month high against the dollar on Today to keep a lid on gains for London stocks as easyJet and a group of healthcare stocks led the march higher.

The FTSE 100 added just over 16 points or 0.2% to close at 7,731.83, while the FTSE 250 was essentially flat at 20,671.20.

Sterling spiked above $1.40 overnight and then again late on London’s session, a level last seen before the Brexit vote in June 2016, but quickly fell back slightly to 1.3978, while it was down more than 0.2% against the euro at 1.1380.

For the day the Dow are trading at 26,210.81 with a loss of  -0.01% percent or  -3.79 point. The S&P 500 are trading at 2,839.13 for up with +0.22% percent or +6.16 point. The Nasdaq Composite are trading at 7,460.29  for up with +0.71% percent or  +52.26 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 23,940.78  with a loss of -0.76% percent or -183.37 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 32,994.54  for up with +0.19% percent or +63.84 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,559.47  for up with +0.37% percent or +12.96 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 36,192.69 for up with +0.15% percent or +52.71 point at 12:15 PM.
