FTSE Futures Morning Update on 21 September


The FTSE 100 Futures are trading at 7,239.00 with a loss of  -0.15% percent or -11.20 point. The CAC 40 Futures are trading at 5,253.50  for up with +0.44%  percent or +21.00 point . The DAX Futures are trading at 12,577.20  for up with +0.17% percent or +21.20 point . The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures are trading at 3,527.00  for up with +0.48% percent or +17.00 point.


The FTSE 100 was expected to open just three points higher at 7,275.On Wednesday, the Fed stood pat on interest rates, as expected, while Chair Janet Yellen signalled that one more rate increase is likely by the end of the year. In addition, the central bank will start winding down its $4.5trn balance sheet in October.

CMC Markets analyst Michael Hewson said: “As expected the US Federal Reserve fired the starting gun on its plans to reduce the size of its balance sheet, with plans to begin the process next month, though with an initial $10bn roll off, it is likely to take a very long time, so much so you could argue that glaciers move faster. The bank also left interest rates unchanged, while at the same time signalling that they retained the option of raising rates one more time this year.



For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,279.08 for up with +0.01% percent or +7.13 point. France’s CAC 40 closed at 5,261.32  for up with +0.38% percent or +19.91 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 12,591.97  for up with  +0.18% percent or +22.80 point.


For the day the Dow are trading at 22,412.59  for up with  +0.19% percent or +41.79 point. The S&P 500 are trading at 2,508.24 for up with +0.06% percent or  +1.59 point. The Nasdaq Composite are trading at 6,456.04  with a loss of  –0.08% percent or –5.28 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 20,347.48  for up with +0.18% percent or +37.02 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 28,110.33 for up with +0.19% percent or +53.61 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,366.00  with  a loss of –0.06% percent or  –17.47 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 32,361.10  with  a loss of –0.12% percent or –39.41 point at 12:15 PM .
