FTSE Futures Morning Update on 19 September

UK PRE MARKET

The FTSE 100 Futures are trading at 7,234.50 for up with +0.24% percent or +17.50 point. The CAC 40 Futures are trading at 5,220.50  for up with +0.04%  percent or +2.00 point . The DAX Futures are trading at 12,530.50  with a loss of  -0.18% percent or -23.00 point . The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures are trading at 3,513.00  with a loss of -0.06% percent or  -2.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

London stocks were flat on Tuesday morning as the pound rose against the dollar to counteract positive sentiment after further record highs were posted on Wall Street overnight.The FTSE 100 index dipped modestly lower initially but after half an hour of trading was just above flat at 7,253.85, with the pound surging back past the 1.35 level with a 0.3% rise against the dollar and flat on the euro to 1.1289.

After sterling suffered a slight hangover the previous day after its strongest weekly performance in eight years last week, Tuesday saw currency traders looking towards the US Federal Reserve as it begins its two-day meeting ahead of a policy announcement on Wednesday as well as mulling an overnight speech at the International Monetary Fund from Bank of England governor Mark Carney.

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,277.71 for up with +0.34% percent or +24.43 point. France’s CAC 40 closed at 5,231.52  for up with +0.04% percent or +2.20 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 12,545.25  with  a loss of –0.10% percent or  –12.78 point.

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow are trading at 22,331.35  for up with  +0.28% percent or +63.01 point. The S&P 500 are trading at 2,503.87 for up with +0.15% percent or  +3.64 point. The Nasdaq Composite are trading at 6,454.64for up  with +0.10% percent or +6.17 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 20,299.38  for up with +1.96% percent or +389.88 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 28,051.41  with a loss of –0.38% percent or –108.36 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,356.84   with  a loss of –0.18% percent or –6.01 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 32,402.37  with a loss of  –0.07% percent or –21.39 point at 12:15 PM .
