A criminal investigation into the incident has been closed, and the site is anticipated to resume operations next month. Oil prices experienced a modest decline following the announcement of new sanctions by the US aimed at businesses engaged in Iran’s trade network.

The measures, referred to as “Operation Economic Outcast” by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, have impacted companies in China and Hong Kong, yet have largely spared significant Chinese financial institutions thus far. Meanwhile, the decline in both precious and industrial metals exerted pressure on miners.
