FTSE Futures Update : 18 Jan. 2022

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 7,536.2 with a loss of  -0.20% percent or -14.8 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 7,197.5 with +0.41% percent or +29.5 point. The DAX Futures is trading at 15,887.50 with a loss of -0.25% or -39.50 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 4,274.00 with a loss of -0.33% percent or -14.00 point.

 

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

The pan-European Stoxx 600 provisionally ended around 1% lower, with retail stocks dropping 2.3% to lead losses as almost all sectors and major bourses slid into negative territory.

In terms of individual share price movement, French state-owned utility EDF plunged more than 14% after being ordered by the government to sell more of its cheap nuclear power to smaller rivals in order to curb electricity price rises. The company subsequently dropped its earnings guidance.

For the day the Dow is trading at 35,911.81  with a loss of –0.56%percent or ?201.81  point. The S&P 500 is trading at 4,662.85 up with +0.082% percent or +3.82   point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 14,893.75 up with +0.59% percent or +86.94   point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 28,246.19 with a loss of –0.31% percent or ?87.33  point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 24,075.55 with a loss of –0.59% ercent or ?142.48 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 3,560.55 up with +0.53% percent or +18.89 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 61,147.55 with a loss of –0.26% percent or –161.36  point at 12:15 PM.
