The FTSE 100 was called to open four points higher at 7,212.
CMC Markets analyst David Madden said: “The fact that both sides are due to meet is seen as positive step, and just because Beijing is not willing to alter its position on certain topics, doesn’t mean that progress can’t be made in other areas.
