FTSE Futures Morning Update on 17 May 2019

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 7,327.50  with a loss of -0.13% percent or -9.50 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 5,354.00  with a loss of -1.73% percent or -94.00 point. The DAX Futures is trading at 12,221.50 with a loss of -0.49% percent or -60.10 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 3,390.00 with a loss of -0.35% percent or -12.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

London stocks were set to edge lower at the open on Friday following solid gains in the previous session amid renewed concerns about a possible hard Brexit.

The FTSE 100 was called to open down 10 points at 7,343.

Prime Minister Theresa May agreed on Thursday to set out the date of her departure in the first week of June after she makes one final attempt at getting her Brexit deal through parliament. Meanwhile, former Foreign Secretary and ultra-right Brexiteer Boris Johnson confirmed he would run for the Tory Party leadership once May stood down.

For the day the Dow is trading at 25,862.68  up with +0.84% percent or +214.66   point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,876.32 up with +0.89% percent or +25.36 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,898.05 up with +0.97% percent or +75.90 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 21,250.09 up with +0.89% percent or +187.11 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 27,938.18 with a loss of -1.19% percent or -336.89   point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,882.30  with a loss of -2.48% percent or -73.41 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 37,727.87 up with +0.89% percent or +334.39 point at 12:15 PM.
