FTSE Futures Morning Update on 01 February 2019

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 6,905.20  with a loss of -0.38% percent or -26.20 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 4,998.50 up with +0.51% percent or +25.50 point. The DAX Futures is trading at 11,155.50  with a loss of -0.51% percent or -57.10 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 3,155.50  with a loss of -0.22% percent or -7.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

London stocks were in a mixed state at the close on Thursday, as earlier sentiment – underpinned by a dovish statement from the Federal Reserve and solid results from the likes of Shell and Diageo – faded in the session’s final hours.

Michel Barnier, the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator, said the Irish backstop was “part and parcel” of the Brexit deal and cannot be renegotiated.

Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said on Thursday that extra time may be needed to finalise Brexit legislation, meaning the exit date may have to be pushed back.

His comments came as the government said Parliament’s week-long February recess looked set to be cancelled.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 20,788.39  up with +0.072% percent or +14.90 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 20,788.39 up with +0.072% percent or +14.90 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,618.23 up with +1.30% percent or +33.66 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 36,680.08  up with +1.17% percent or +423.39 point at 12:15 PM.
