FTSE Futures Morning Update on 04 January 2019

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 6,679.20 up with +0.54%percent or +36.20 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 4,614.00  with a loss of -1.55% percent or -72.50 point. The DAX Futures is trading at 10,503.20 up with +0.68% percent or +70.70 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 2,965.50 with +0.68% percent or +20.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

London stocks finished near their worst levels of the session on Thursday after US technology giant Apple cut its first-quarter guidance – its first such move in almost 20 years – and a key gauge of factory sector conditions in the States dropped in December by the most since 2008.

But yet again, in both instances the underlying cause was recent weakness in the Chinese economy.

The FTSE 100 finished down 0.62% or 41.57 points at 6,692.66, while the pound staged a timid bounce of 0.24% against the US dollar to 1.2639 but was down by 0.17% to 1.1085 against the single currency.

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 6,692.66 up with +0.68% percent or +19.00 point. France’s CAC  40 closed at 4,611.49  with a loss of -1.66% percent or -77.90 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 10,416.66  with a loss of -1.55% percent or -163.53 point.

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow is trading at 22,686.22  with  a loss of -2.83% percent or -660.02 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,447.89  with a loss of  -2.48% percent or -62.14 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 6,463.50 with a loss of -3.04% percent or -202.43 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 19,561.96   with a loss of -2.26% percent or -452.81 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 25,473.49  up with +1.63% percent or +409.13 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,510.77 up with +2,510.77 percent or  +46.40 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 35,573.49 up with +0.15% percent or +54.18  point at 12:15 PM.
