FTSE Futures Morning Update on 23 November

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 6,956.00  with a loss of -0.16% percent or -0.16% point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 4,923.50 up with +0.01% percent or +0.50 point The DAX Futures is trading at 11,133.00  with a loss of -0.01% percent or -1.00 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 3,119.00  up with +0.06% percent or +2.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

London stocks were set to edge higher at the open on Black Friday as investors eyed this weekend’s EU summit.

The FTSE 100 was called to open five points higher at 6,965.

Sterling was a touch weaker against the dollar and the euro, having surged on Thursday after the UK and EU agreed on a framework for the future trade relationship between the two.

“As a result, the prospect of a special EU Summit remains on the table for this Sunday, however the potential for problems remains high given some vocal opposition to some elements of the deal from Spain, France and other EU countries,” said CMC Markets analyst Michael Hewson.

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 6,960.32   with a loss of -1.28% percent or -89.91 point. France’s CAC 40 closed at 4,938.14 with a loss of -0.75% percent or -37.36 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 11,138.49 up with a loss of  -0.94% percent or  -105.68 point.

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow is trading at 24,464.69  with a loss of 0.0039% percent or  -0.95 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,649.93 up with +0.30% percent or +8.04 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 6,972.25  up with +0.92% percent or +63.43  point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 21,646.55 up with +0.65% percent or+139.01 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 25,911.96  with a loss of -0.41% percent or -107.45 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,579.48  with a loss of -2.49% percent or  -65.95 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 34,981.02  with a loss of -0.62% percent or -218.78 point at 12:15 PM.
