FTSE Futures Morning Update on 24 October

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 6,967.20 up  with +0.31% percent or +21.70 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 5,009.00 up with +0.90% percent or +44.50 point The DAX Futures is trading at 11,335.00  up with +0.50% percent or +56.50 point. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures trading at 3,153.00  up with  +0.51% percent or +16.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

The FTSE 100 fell 1.24% to 6,955.21, its lowest finish since 26 March, while the pound was up 0.2% against the dollar at 1.2991 and 0.1% firmer versus the euro at 1.1320.

Sterling had popped higher earlier in the afternoon on reports emerged that the European Union was prepared to accept the creation of a UK-wide customs union.

Ireland’s RTE reported that the Brexit withdrawal agreement will include a specific commitment to arranging a UK-wide customs as part of a separate treaty.

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 6,955.21   with a loss of  -1.24% percent or 87.59 point. France’s CAC 40 closed at 4,967.69  with a loss of -1.69% percent or  -85.62 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 11,274.28  with a loss of -2.17% percent or -250.06 point.

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow is trading at 25,191.43 with  a loss of -0.50% percent or  -125.98 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,740.69 with a loss of  -0.55% percent or -15.19 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,437.54 with a loss of -0.42% percent or -31.09 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 22,091.18 with a loss of -0.37% percent or -80.40 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 25,238.66  with a loss of -0.43% percent or -107.89  point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,603.42 up with  +0.33% percent or +8.59 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 33,997.93  up with +0.45% percent or +150.70 point at 12:15 PM.
