FTSE Futures Morning Update on 15 May

UK PRE MARKET

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 7,664.50 with a loss of -0.51% percent or -39.50 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 5,524.00 with a loss of -0.26% percent or-14.50 point . The DAX Futures is trading at 12,942.50  with a loss of -0.30% percent or -38.50 point . The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures is trading at 3,519.00 with a loss of -0.31%  percent or -11.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

By the closing bell, the FTSE 100 was down 0.18% to 7,710.98, while the pound was edging higher against the euro to 1.1346 but 0.32% firmer against the dollar at 1.35866 amid hopes that the UK could join the European Economic Area following Brexit after the Norwegian Prime Minister said that Oslo was open to this option.

David Cheetham, chief market analyst at XTB, said: “UK membership of the EEA had previously be seen as unlikely with senior Norwegian diplomats and business leaders warning that it would distort the relatively small group away from its current priorities such as protecting agriculture and fishing.

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,710.98 with a loss of  -0.18% percent or  -13.57 point. France’s CAC 40 closed at 5,540.68 with a loss of -0.023% percent or  -1.25 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 12,977.71  with  a loss of -0.18% percent or -23.53 point.

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow is trading at 24,899.41 up with +0.27% percent or +68.24 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,730.13 up with +0.088% percent or +2.41 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,411.32 up with +0.11% percent or +8.43 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 22,818.02 with a loss of -0.21% percent or -47.84 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 31,209.08 with a loss of -1.05% percent or -332.00 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 3,188.69 up with +0.46% percent or +14.65 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 35,775.88 up  with +0.62% percent or  +219.17  point at 12:15 PM.
