FTSE Futures Morning Update on 17 October

UK PRE MARKET

The FTSE 100 Futures are trading at 7,479.80 with a loss of  –0.37% percent or -27.70 point. The CAC 40 Futures are trading at 5,348.50  with a loss of -0.21% percent or -11.00 point . The DAX Futures are trading at 12,988.50 with a loss of  -0.07% percent or -9.50 point . The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures are trading at 3,593.00  with a loss of -0.14% percent or -5.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

London stocks were flat in early trade on Tuesday as investors erred on the side of caution ahead of key inflation data.

At 0830 BST, the FTSE 100 was steady at 7,525.81, while the pound was up 0.1% against the dollar at 1.3258 and 0.3% firmer versus the euro at 1.1270.

On the data front, the retail price index, producer price index and consumer price index are all due at 0930 BST. Meanwhile, Bank of England governor Mark Carney is due to give a speech at 1115 BST.

Spreadex analyst Connor Campbell said: “Despite last night’s meeting between Theresa May and Jean Claude Juncker producing nothing more than vague promise to ‘accelerate’ negotiations, the pound is on the rise this Tuesday.

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,513.16 for up with a loss of –0.18% percent or  –13.81 point. France’s CAC 40 closed at 5,353.44 with a loss of –0.18% percent or  –9.43 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 12,996.80  with a loss of –0.05% percent or – 6.90 point.

For the day the Dow are trading at 22,956.96  for up with +0.37% percent or +85.24 point. The S&P 500 are trading at 2,557.64 for up  with +0.18% percent or +4.47 point. The Nasdaq Composite are trading at 6,624.00 for up with  +0.28% percent or + 18.20 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 21,336.12  for up with +0.38% percent or +80.56 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 28,697.49  for up  with +0.02% percent or  +4.69 point. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,372.04 with a loss of – 0.19% percent or  –6.43 point. India’s BSE Sensex are trading at 32,643.42   for up with  +0.03%  percent or +9.78point at 12:15 PM .
