FTSE Futures Morning Update on 12 May 2017

UK PRE MARKET

The FTSE 100 Futures are trading at 7,360.20 for up with +0.04% percent . The CAC 40 Futures are trading at 5,365.50 with a loss of -0.20% percent . The DAX Futures are trading at 12,735.20 for up with +0.21% percent. The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures are trading at 3,591.0 for up with +0.11% percent .

TODAY’s FACTORS AND EVENTS

London stocks were set for a muted start on Friday, with no major macroeconomic releases due to provide any direction and a fairly quiet corporate calendar.

CMC Markets analyst Michael Hewson said: “Stocks had a disappointing day yesterday with a weaker bias across the board, despite further gains in the oil price, as a lack of positive drivers weighed on sentiment.

“It would be ironic in the extreme now that the worst of the political fog appears to have cleared, that we could well see stock markets post their first negative week since early April.

“It seems that while political risk has subsided investors remain far from convinced that further upside can be sustained without further evidence of a positive pickup in the economic numbers.”

In corporate news, AstraZeneca’s durvalumab immuno-oncology drug has become the first such medicine to successfully treat advanced lung cancer patients who had not had success with chemotherapy.

 

PREVIOUS DAY ACTIVITY

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,394.73 for up with +0.11% percent. France’s CAC 40 closed at 5,383.42  with  a loss of –0.32% percent. Germany’s DAX closed at 12,711.06 with a loss of 0.36% percent.

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow are trading at 20,919.42 with a loss of  –0.11% percent. The S&P 500 are trading at 2,394.44 with a loss of –0.22% percent. The Nasdaq Composite are trading at 6,115.96  with a loss of  –0.22% percent.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 are trading at 19,883.90 with a loss of  –0.39% percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are trading at 25,132.88 for up with +0.03% percent. China’s Shanghai Composite are trading at 3,083.51 for up with +0.72% percent. India’s S&P BSE Sensex are trading at 30,154.33 with a loss of 0.32% percent as on 12:47 PM .
