FTSE Futures Morning Update on 12 October

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 7,031.50 up with +0.75% percent or +52.50 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 5,171.00  up with +1.49% percent or +76.00 point . The DAX Futures is trading at 11,680.50  up with +1.22% percent or +141.00 point . The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures is trading at 3,225.00  up with +1.25%  percent or +40.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

London joined in with the heavy selling across European stock markets on Today amid discomfort about rising US interest rates.

The FTSE 100 finished down 139 points or 1.94% at 7,006.93, close to breaching the 7,000 level for the first time since late March. Sterling was up fat against the dollar at 1.3201 and 0.4% lower versus the euro at 1.1404.

European and Asian stocks tumbled on the back of Wall Street’s worst losses in eight months, with the Dow suffering its biggest daily decline of the year and the Nasdaq its worst day of trade since June as worries about rising bond yields, trade tensions, Italy and concerns about valuations heading into earnings season sparked heavy selling.

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,006.93  with a loss of -1.94% percent or  -138.81 point. France’s CAC 40 closed at 5,106.37  with a loss of -1.92% percent or  -99.84 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 11,539.35  with a loss of  -1.48% percent or -173.15 point.

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow is trading at 25,052.83  with a loss of -2.13% percent or -545.91 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,728.37 with  a loss of -2.06% percent or -57.31 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,329.06  with a loss of  -1.25% percent or -92.99 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 22,694.66 with +0.46% percent or +103.80 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 25,711.91   up with +1.76% percent or +445.54 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,607.49  up with +0.93% percent or +24.04 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 34,692.41  up with +2.03% percent or  +691.26 point at 12:15 PM.
