FTSE Futures Morning Update on 05 September

UK PRE MARKET

The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 7,432.00 with a loss of  -0.27% percent or -20.00 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 5,315.00  with a loss of -0.64% percent or -34.50 point . The DAX Futures is trading at 12,133.50  with a loss of -0.58% percent or -71.00 point . The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures is trading at 3,343.00 with a loss of -0.45% percent or -15.00 point.

TODAY’S FACTORS AND EVENTS

Two companies with the name Smith are in the top five risers on the London Stock Exchange.

Packaging company DS Smith is up about 1.5%, and engineers Smiths Group are at 0.95%.

DS Smith released an upbeat trading update this morning, while the latter company is reportedly subject to a takeover bid.

At the other end of the FTSE 100, WPP is a far outlier, having shed a whole 8%. The next biggest loser is Just Eat, trading 1.9% lower.

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,444.84 with a loss of  -0.17% percent or -13.02 point. France’s CAC 40 closed at 5,320.35  with a loss of  -0.42% percent or -22.34 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 12,164.82  with a loss of -0.37% percent or -45.39 point.

WORLD MARKETS

For the day the Dow is trading at 25,952.48  with a loss of -0.048% percent or -12.34 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,896.72   with a loss of -0.17% percent or -4.80 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 8,091.25  with a loss of -0.23% percent or -18.29 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 22,580.83 with a loss of -0.51% percent or -116.07 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 27,267.80  with a loss of  -2.52% percent or  -705.54 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 2,704.34 with a loss of  -1.68% percent or -46.24  point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 37,870.01  with a loss of -0.75% percent or  -287.91 point at 12:15 PM.
