FTSE Futures Morning Update on 19 April


The FTSE 100 Futures is trading at 7,267.50 up with +1.32% percent or +95.00 point. The CAC 40 Futures is trading at 5,387.50  up  with +0.67% percent or +36.00 point . The DAX Futures is trading at 12,618.50 up with  +0.10% percent or +12.00 point . The EURO Stoxx 50 Futures is trading at 3,419.00  up with +0.03%  percent or +1.00 point.


 London stocks jumped on Thursday as the latest round of inflation data knocked the pound lower, raising doubts in some corners over the likelihood of a rate hike by the Bank of England next month.

The top flight index was up 1.26% or 91.29 points to 7,317.34, while the pound was down 0.48% against the dollar to 1.42191 and 0.55% weaker versus the euro at 1.1486 after figures from the Office for National Statistics showed inflation fell faster than expected last month, to its lowest level in a year.

“The FTSE 100 sits contentedly at a seven-week high this morning, bolstered by the fall in sterling following this morning’s CPI figure and a surge in commodity prices that has sent miners surging upwards. Base metals such as aluminium and nickel continue to rally, with fear of further sanctions cutting out Russian supplies from global markets.

For the day the FTSE 100 closed at 7,317.34  up with +1.26% percent or +91.29 point. France’s CAC 40 closed at 5,380.17  up with +0.50% percent or +26.63 point. Germany’s DAX closed at 12,590.83  up with +0.042% percent or +5.26 point.


For the day the Dow is trading at 24,748.07  with a loss of  -0.16% percent or  ?38.56 point. The S&P 500 is trading at 2,708.64 up with +0.083% percent or +2.25 point. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at 7,295.24 up with +0.19% percent or +14.14 point.

In other parts of world, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is trading at 22,191.18  up  with +0.15% percent or  +32.98 point. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading at 30,598.75 up with +1.04% percent or +314.50 point. China’s Shanghai Composite is trading at 3,113.32 up with +0.71% percent or  +21.92 point. India’s BSE Sensex is trading at 34,414.84 up with +0.24% percent or +83.16  point at 12:15 PM.
