The FTSE 100 was expected to open three points lower at 7,282.
In a speech in Cleveland on Tuesday, Yellen hinted at one more rate hike before the end of the year. Speaking at the National Association for Business Economics, she argued against waiting until inflation had returned to its 2.0% target before tightening policy. She also said that the Fed should be wary of moving too gradually.
